After the wrap of "Five Seconds to Air" lots of work still had to be done. Tamara talks about what it takes to be a producer.

Hannah, Tamara and Mason checking in on the team

Q: What was you process for collaborating with the team for this film?

T: The process of collaboration was letting everyone talk and give their opinion but being aware that I had to make the final decisions. Making sure that everyone felt that they were heard was important to me, but not letting meetings get out of hand was also very important. I also had a meeting with each department at different times to make sure that they had what they needed. In hindsight, I should have done more of this.

Q: Did you run into any challenges?

T: It may seem cliche but communication was one of the greatest challenges. Finding out when things were getting done was one of the greatest challenges. People would do things and not tell me that they were done.

Q: What is your favorite thing about producing?

T: I enjoy having responsibility and this job has a lot of responsibility. Being able to organize and plan something and then have it work out the way it is supposed to work is the best feeling. So that is why I like producing because being able to plan something then execute it is very rewarding.

Q: What kind of skills do you need to be a good producer?

T: To be a good producer you need a couple of things, the first of which is to be organized. You have a lot of things going on at the same time so being able to keep track of what has to happen when is vitally important. You also have to be good at multitasking. As you can go from one meeting to the next very quickly and you must not only be ready to have the paperwork but also to talk about the project. You also have to be willing to let go as there are many decisions that are made that you have no control over and have to just go with.

“Do you have a design in mind for your blog? Whether you prefer a trendy postcard look or you’re going for a more editorial style blog - there’s a stunning layout for everyone.”

Q: What was your biggest concern on set?

T: There weren’t very many things that I was worried about during the filming. Our crew was very good and very professional so there wasn’t much to worry about. Getting things done on time, and be aware of the budget and the expensive chairs that we had. But overall there was only so much that we had to worry about and things went very well.

Q: What do you want people to take away from this film?

T: I think the core of the film, that you can’t trust everyone, especially not politicians, is very relatable. I want people to leave feeling like Audrey did the right thing, and that she was right for exposing the senator.

Q: Do you have any upcoming projects or things you would like readers to know?

T: I have a documentary that is going to film festivals call Rollcall.
